I feel like life is flying by
at a very rapid pace!
We are already a month into summer.
I can’t believe it.
At the end of my last blog post,
I shared with you my struggles
of emotional eating and lack of exercise
and how I had gained back some weight.
It took a few days of actively
fighting against the negative self talk
and desire to quit or give in to my cravings
before it started to feel like second nature again.
I feel back in control
and it is easier to make healthy choices.
At the end of Week 24,
I got on the scale.
Are you kidding me!!
It was the most exciting day ever!!
Down 4.5 lbs that week.
But now I had a decision to make.
I had decided that 150 lbs
was my goal weight.
Do I stop now and move to the next phase?
Or do I try to lose 10 more lbs?

I’ve lost 63 lbs in 5 1/2 months.
Let’s be honest,
when your highest weight in life was 286 lbs,
your skin has been stretched way out of proportion.
I was truly surprised by the amount
of lose skin that I had.
Don’t laugh, but when I look in the mirror
my torso reminds of the sweet little geriatric ladies
that I cared for as a nursing student
all those years ago.
You know the kind. Skinny little ladies
and their skin just kind of hangs off of them.
It made me laugh,
then it made me sad.
Is this what my body is going to always look like?
It is the ugly truth that when you lose weight fast
that your skin needs to catch up.
I talked to a Nurse Practitioner friend
who with a bariatric surgeon (gastric bypass and such).
She told me about a guy who had lost a ton of weight…
a couple hundred pounds.
He didn’t want to undergo more surgery to
remove the skin.
He decided to wait it out.
He told her how at first his skin would flap
as he rode his motorcycle.
He could feel it flapping!
By a year later,
that neck and face skin had tighten so much
that he no longer could feel it flap!
I have been doing a ton of research on skin health,
ways to tighten it up after weight loss.
1. Eat a lot of protein
2. Stay super hydrated
3. Stay out of the sun…it ages our skin and wrecks elasticity
4. Moisturize your skin
A few other things I learned from friends
that I am going to try:
*take a hair and nail supplement that
has hyaluronic acid (Costco sells one)
*Silica is supposed to a great supplement
that boost skin repair. A friend had her
son take it for cracked skin and it
So, I decided to move to the next phase.
Give my skin sometime to tighten up.
And then if I decide to lose more,
that is fine.
But right now, I feel my whole mind set has changed.
I don’t want to get skinny,
I want to be strong and toned!!
After one week of phase 3,
I am down to 149.9 lbs!!
Now that I can have a celebration meal once a week
(appetizer, meal, and dessert)
I really don’t know what I want.
I haven’t had any cravings!

one amazing meal each week?
This is a life change,
I will eat this way the rest of my life!
It feels great!
I feel great!
